Independence Navigator offers secure Gmail monitoring and processing to help make your Daily Money Management (DMM) services more efficient and timely. The Independence Navigator Gmail Processor is our Gmail account monitoring tool that you authorize to access the Gmail account you wish us to monitor.
What our processor does
Our processor will retrieve email received by the Gmail account and forward it to Independence Navigator’s secure server so it can be reviewed and processed by our staff without having to directly sign in to the Gmail account. For example, when an invoice arrives in your DMM Gmail account, the processor will forward it to our secure server so we can review it and take the appropriate next steps under your existing DMM service arrangement. If you use a bill-payment service that accepts invoices by email, the original email might also be forwarded to that bill-payment service.
A DMM Gmail account
As part of your DMM services, your account manager may recommend that you create a dedicated “DMM Gmail account” to receive bills, invoices, statements, notices, and other third-party correspondence that you want Independence Navigator to review and handle. Our Gmail processing service will securely pull email from that account so that our staff can review this correspondence as part of the services you have asked us to provide.
It is beneficial to you to use this Gmail account only for correspondence related to your DMM services, such as bills, invoices, account statements, payment notices, renewal notices, and other financial or administrative correspondence that you want Independence Navigator to review or handle, and not for personal correspondence. Keeping the account focused on DMM-related correspondence helps ensure that the email processed by the system is relevant to the services Independence Navigator provides.
The Gmail connection is intended to support your existing relationship with Independence Navigator. It does not give Independence Navigator authority to take actions beyond the services and permissions you have otherwise agreed to.
You own this Gmail account and it will remain yours after our services have been completed.
How you authorize us to access this account
Instead of requiring an Independence Navigator employee to routinely sign in to your Gmail account, our system uses Google’s secure authorization process to access the account electronically without ever sharing your username or password. When you and your DMM have agreed to create a DMM Gmail account, Independence Navigator will send an invitation email to this new Gmail account. There will be a link in this email that you will use to authorize our processor to connect to your Gmail account. Your Gmail account settings will now show that you have connected our processor to your account.
Nothing is permanent about this authorization. You can revoke authorization and severe the connection at any time. Revoking access will stop our automated Gmail processing and may affect our ability to provide services that depend on receiving or reviewing correspondence from that account.
Independence Navigator’s access of the DMM Gmail account will also be discontinued when the applicable DMM service relationship ends.
